I have a baby due in March. This is a contest to help my husband and I select a name, and also to have some fun. We don’t guarantee we will use a winning name selected for the contest, but it’s a real possibility. Submit your entry via this blog per the instructions below. Enter as often as you like, as many complete submissions per blog entry as you wish.
– Emily
The contest ends 11:59 p.m., February 15, 2008 Central Time.The Prize:
I wanted to find a prize that appealed to all readers of this blog, considering that everyone here has or knows someone who has neurofibromatosis. Since this is Reggie’s site and he is trying to raise awareness of NF, First Prize will be a FREE Reggie Bibbs “Just Ask!” t-shirt for every member of your immediate family (up to six). The winning submissions will be selected by Reggie and Lou, based on their weird ideas and quirky sensibilities.
Naming Suggestions (encouraged, but not required)
The wierder, the better!
How to Enter the Contest
1. Submit a blog entry to this blog . Include your real name and e-mail address if you are not a regular submitter to the blog.
2. Propose a first name for my baby.
Deadlines:The contest ends 11:59 p.m., February 15, 2008 Central Time. Because we expect at least two entries, please submit your entry as soon as possible to give Reggie’s and Lou’s little boy brains to have enough time to declare a winner.
Thanks, and have fun with this!
Emily
P.S. – Just got back from my 33week checkup, and its official, I have a huge baby, lol. I am measuring ahead of what I should be, which doesnt surprise me. I always have big babies. Good lord, this one might break 10 lbs! HELP!!

I think Emily and her husband should get a Just ASK T-shirt because it’s all about Emily. The baby name contest will be a good story Emily can tell her Son or Daughter when they become a teenager.
January 29th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
I was thinking a name like Wolfgang would be kind of cool.
January 29th, 2008 at 11:25 pm
Hey JW you forgot your email address
January 29th, 2008 at 11:31 pm
I like the name Grace for a girl, for a boy, I don’t know.
Vanessa will name her baby Gennieve after her sister, if it is a boy, she will name it Robert after the baby’s daddy.
January 30th, 2008 at 12:12 am
Tomorrow would be a good name. Believe it or not I know a lady named her daughter tomorrow. If its a boy name him Blanket.
January 30th, 2008 at 10:28 am
Must be a black thing.
January 30th, 2008 at 11:12 am
Do you know if you are having a boy or a girl?
January 30th, 2008 at 11:17 am

!!!!!!!!
January 30th, 2008 at 11:20 am
Oatmeal. Would be a fun name. comment 6 By the way. This lady was not of the black race Louis. You could use a name like Lou, but you wouldn’t want that. we both would be stoned to death. You for naming the baby, and me for suggestion it.
January 30th, 2008 at 11:26 am
lol I wake up and find this, what in the world!
And Patricia, I would NEVER name my baby Lou, that would be like cursing him for the rest of his life! =P

LOUIS
Gender: Masculine
Usage: French, English, Dutch
The boy’s name Louis \louis\ is pronounced LOO-iss, loo-WEE. It is of French and Old German origin, and its meaning is “famous warrior”. A name used by 18 French kings and numerous saints. The German form is Ludwig; a Latinized version is Clovis, which was borne by a Germanic tribal leader who ended the Roman domination of what is now France and made himself king. Musician Louis Armstrong; scientist Louis Pasteur; authors Louis L’Amour; Robert Louis Stevenson;
This was the name of 18 kings of France, including Louis IX (Saint Louis) who led two crusades, and Louis XIV (the ‘Sun King’) who was the ruler of France during the height of its power, the builder of the Palace of Versailles, and the longest reigning monarch in the history of Europe. Other famous bearers include Louis Riel, a Métis leader who led a rebellion against Canada, and Robert Louis Stevenson, the author of ‘Treasure Island’ and ‘Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde’.
actor Lou Gossett, Jr.

I would thik a person would be proud to be called Louis, Emily!
January 30th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
NOT in defense of Lou, My grandfather was name Lois, acually Louis Patrick, hence my name “Patricia” I was named after my grandfather. but with the femine version of Patrick, I never got to meet him, I was told he was a fine man, years ago, down in the Heights him and his brothers had a mattress factory Henderson Brothers, and on the side he made teeth for ppl. How old are you Lou? Was you around back then, I believe that back sometime in the 50s maybe in the 60s I just know it was before my time.
January 30th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
I was named after a soap opera character on All My Children – Emily Anne, lol.
January 30th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
Reggie was named for an unidentified object his mother found on the side of the road.

True Friendship’
(With none of that Sissy Crap!!!!)
Are you tired of those sissy ‘friendship’ poems that always sound good, but never actually come close to reality?
Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of true friendship.
You will see no cutesy little smiley faces on this card-
just the stone cold truth of our friendship.
1.When you are sad — I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against the sorry bastard who made you that way.
2. When you are blue — I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.
3. When you smile — I will know you finally got laid.
4. When you are scared — I will rag on you about it every chance I get.
5. When you are worried — I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be until you quit whining.
6. When you are confused — I will use little words.
7. When you are sick — Stay the hell away from me until you are well again. I don’t want to catch whatever you have.
8. When you fall — I will point and laugh at your clumsy ass.
9. This is my oath….. I pledge it to the end. ‘Why?’ you may ask?, ‘Because you are my friend’. Friendship is like peeing your pants: everyone can see it, but only you can feel the true warmth.

January 30th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
I’m here. The drive home was madding, really what is wrong with ppl, green means go. There are other ppl that would like to get thru the light, really. While turning left get in the left turn lane BEFORE you stop not in the “LEFT” lane that is the fast lane not the stop lane, when there is a nice big right shoulder USE IT geeze ppl really need to learn how to drive. Seriously, the crazies were out is there a full moon out tonight? What was the deal?
January 30th, 2008 at 8:00 pm

January 30th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
Does anyone watch Lost?
January 30th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
Lost is a good show. I wish I could keep up with the show. I know it’s a good show.
January 30th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
comment 27. Sounds like Houston.
January 30th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
Conroe, close enough to Houston, I drive a Miata and ppl just try to run me off the road cause I’m small, but I’m fast and I can just zip around. So there on them.
January 30th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
The fast drivers really come out when the weather is bad. When it rain seems like they drive fast.
January 30th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
Come on y’all give use more names. Maybe I can add a Just Ask Mug or a dog shirt. No not like the one Lou is wearing now.
January 30th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
All I got is Grace for a Girl,
Nathan for a Boy
I need some info on Emily and her family to come up with some more,
January 30th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
I’ve always been partial to the name Mortecai. Has an Addams Family kind of feel to it. Perfect for Emily and her brood.
January 30th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
For Girl I say Marie Boy Brian
January 30th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
Lou, I bet you are the kind of person who drives 45 miles in the fast lane and speed limit is 70
January 30th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
Let’s just say I’m a responsible driver. Do you have an issue with safe driving, Patricia? I always try to stay within 25 miles of the speed limit, plus or minus.
January 30th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
I am responsible I am just more on the plus side!!!!!
January 30th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
Doing 90 in a 35 mile per hour zone is hardly being responsible, Patricia. That’s a fine example to be setting for young Mortecai. You should be ashamed of yourself Patricia for even thinking of speeding on the same webpage where Emily’s yet-to-be-born baby is being discussed. Shame, shame, shame!!!
January 30th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
oh you are just jealous cause you can’t keep up, you drive like a gramma.
January 30th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
Lou dear how was youe day at work
January 30th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
I have not driven 90 in a 35 since I hit the chief of police of South Texas
January 30th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
I hope you had a good day
January 30th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
Lou one sick puppy.
January 30th, 2008 at 11:32 pm
A good name for Lou. none. With the small n.
January 30th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
Shelley. I had a great day and thank you for asking. It was real nice because I wasn’t getting any pesky calls from you know who.
January 30th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
If you are talking about me, which I believe you are, Well who else would call you? I had better things to do. Like watching paint dry.
January 30th, 2008 at 11:46 pm
Things I would rather do then call Lou. star into space, sit in a dark room, sew my eye lids shut, be left in the rain forest for a year no food or water, hit by a train bus MACK truck. And any other horrible thing you can think of.
January 31st, 2008 at 8:31 am
Actually, Reggie, it sounds like you’re into sado-masochism. Hey, it’s a free country withh the possible exception of Florida.
January 31st, 2008 at 9:16 am
Get your mind out of the gutter. You perverted fool.
January 31st, 2008 at 9:57 am
You’re the sicko that wants to sew your eyes shut. I just wanna watch.
January 31st, 2008 at 9:59 am

January 31st, 2008 at 1:17 pm
Hi Brian whats up
January 31st, 2008 at 2:47 pm
I should not be allowed to go to the Dollar Store, I always end up buying things I dont need! I went there awhile ago to get a box of valentines for Elijah to take to school and I came out with a whole bag of random stuff. I cant help it, I love shopping and everything there is so cheap!
January 31st, 2008 at 2:58 pm
cheap adds up to be expensive, just look at my credit score lol just like nothing is ever free, there is always ALWAYS a catch a price tag a hidden cost somewhere. LOL
well how do you feel about any of the names so far, do you like older names, new names, unique names, family names,…. I am not going to listen to Lou he is a little worped and on the twisted side, mortical ump I am just shaking my head.
January 31st, 2008 at 3:02 pm
Hmm.. I like the name Patrick that you suggested. We do already have a first name picked out, its Leland after my husband’s grandfather, but I just cannot pick a middle name to save my life. I have been trying since October! Leland Patrick.. that could work…. hm…
January 31st, 2008 at 3:14 pm
Cool.
January 31st, 2008 at 3:42 pm
Reggie talking to me is fun too
January 31st, 2008 at 3:47 pm
middle name, Conrad, James, Hey how about Wade?
January 31st, 2008 at 3:57 pm
Cant use James because thats my second son’s middle name, but he actually goes by James instead of his first name.
January 31st, 2008 at 4:27 pm
Yes Shelley it’s nice talking to you too.
January 31st, 2008 at 4:53 pm
I have a friend that named her baby boy of course he is a little older now but when she had him she named him Trip
January 31st, 2008 at 5:55 pm
And you thought MY names were weird?!! Leland would be cruel to name a child, even a demon child. Why don’t you use Leland for the middle name and use Patrick for the first name. Or Mickey after our great congressman from Houston, Mickey Leland.
January 31st, 2008 at 5:57 pm
George Thomas “Mickey” Leland (November 27, 1944 – August 7, 1989), was an anti-poverty activist and later became a congressman from the Texas 18th District and chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. He was a Democrat.
Leland regularly led soup kitchens and became concerned with the hungry and homeless. He also worked to prevent food aid from being a political tool.
While Leland was controversial in his lifetime for espousing extreme leftist political views, he was also an effective advocate on hunger and public health issues. Many of his colleagues considered him flamboyant for his style of dress and mannerisms, which included wearing a dashiki and eccentric hats.[1]
In 1989 Leland died in a plane crash in Gambela, Ethiopia during a mission to Fugnido, Ethiopia. A total of fifteen people, including Leland, died in the crash. His friend and former fellow Texas legislator, Craig Washington, ran for and was elected to his unexpired Congressional term in December of 1989.

Ok, maybe Leland isn’t such a bad name after all.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:46 am
Hey now, what did I say! Leland is a family name! lol All of my kids have family names. Elijah’s middle name is Alexander after my brother (whom I now dont speak to, lol) and James’ full name is William James Jr, after my husband.
Although Leland isnt my favorite name, I had promised my husband if we had a boy that he could use the name, because I was sure I was going to have a girl finally, lol. Oh well!
February 1st, 2008 at 11:53 am

Does anyone ever go to the Mardi Gras in Galveston?
February 3rd, 2008 at 10:19 pm
Never had the urge. After doing New Orleans so many years, Galveston would be a major let down, I think.
February 3rd, 2008 at 10:23 pm
well, this will probally be our last year, we had a free place to stay and a very special lady to visit. We are going to miss doing the Mardi Gras in Galveston
February 4th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
So Patricia you are going to be moving? What happen to the Lady
February 4th, 2008 at 1:25 pm
No, it is my MIL, she has been released to hospice, she probally only has a few weeks to maybe a couple of months, my husband is staying with her right now.
