Reggie,
It was nice meeting you today. I love reading the comments from folks who only wanted to see you! If there is anyone out of the area that would like to see the story that ran tonight it is on the myfoxhouston website. The story from a year ago is there too! http://www.myfoxhouston.com/myfox/pages/Home/Detail?contentId=6467368&version=1&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=VSTY&pageId=1.1.1
Reggie, if this is too much like spamming then by all means remove it!
See ya round, and GO ASTROS!

I like to write, but at present am short on words to express the empathy I feel for you and all that you have endured Reggie. I wish you increased success in your endeavors. I saw your ad in Time Magazine (I’m a subscriber), but I have to admit that since it was an advertisement I thought the other end of that website would be asking me for money and since I’m one broke sistah, I just steered clear *shrug*. Continued luck and success.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
Well, I am getting sleepy, got a busy day tomorrow, hopefully, I’ll be able to get on sometime, I am so glad I was able to see you Reggie, you too, Lou Good nigh all.

Hey Reggie! Got in late (1am)from my friend’s mother-in-law’s wake, but was able to see it over at William’s on Tivo. You did GREAT.. you’re a natural!! Whoever your sidekick was did pretty good too, his English is really coming along.
Noticed it brought a few more new folks to the blog, including Mike the camera guy. Glad you made it back to Houston Mike, welcome home.
Reggie – you touched a lot of people and made the world a slightly better place tonight. Enjoy that feeling.
On that note, I’m hitting the sack. Good night all and sleep well.

Hi Reggie,
I Tivo’d your interview last night and watched it the first thing this morning. Excellent job by you and, of course, TBFKAL. You are really doing more now to raise awareness about NF than any other campaigns have in the past.
Congrats!

May 6th, 2008 at 12:22 pm
Hey guys, What is all this about steak night? I haven’t seen the News Week. I guess I will on steak night.
May 6th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
I see, Reggie is gone all morning then the minute we talk about food, BAM he’s on the blog!
May 6th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
I had to get my writing tools. So anyway did someone say something? I didn’t think so. Oh hi Lou.
May 6th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
Cool! Steak Night sounds great this week… my inner carnivore is starving for a hunk o’ steak.
I’ll bring the Newsweek.
May 6th, 2008 at 12:58 pm
Reggie, I’ll pick you up around 6:45 on Thursday. Wear that pink thing you picked up in Vegas!
May 6th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
You mean the thing you are wearing now?
May 6th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
Reggie! I am so proud of you for being such an amazing spokesman and raising awareness and understanding about NF! You are inspiring young adults with NF and will help them have a better quality of life. You rock!

Meredyth,
I’m happy to see you here. You are kind and thank you for being part of the blog.
May 6th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
#72: Cool, Head of Security! I love it. So… you want me to get rid of that Lou character that’s been bugging you, Mr. Bibbs?
And hey Rollergirls, ever been to steak night at PJs? You guys should join us – it’s right there in the Montrose. Let me know if you are interested and I’ll give you the details.
If you think you may get a substantial group together, we may have to talk to PJ about using the upstairs.
Let me know and I’ll look into setting it up.
May 6th, 2008 at 3:32 pm
The Houston Roller Derby ladies would love PJ’s! Hell, you can even wear your skates though going upstairs might be tough! PJ’s has a great deal: 2 huge steaks cooked on the grill, 2 baked potatoes, 2 salads, and a pitcher of beer for $25!!! You can’t afford not to go there!!! PJ’s is just 1 or 2 blocks east of Montrose on West Gray.
May 6th, 2008 at 4:08 pm
Man that sounds great! Steak!!!
May 6th, 2008 at 4:15 pm

May 6th, 2008 at 4:59 pm

May 6th, 2008 at 5:29 pm

May 6th, 2008 at 6:05 pm
Great to hear you may make it!
The date would be this Thursday (5/8) at around 7:30 at PJs Sports Bar at:
614 W Gray St
Houston, TX 77019
http://www.pjssportsbar.com
May 6th, 2008 at 6:08 pm
Ok wow…. that’s supposed to read Thursday 5/8. Don’t know what the smiley-face has to do with anything!
May 6th, 2008 at 6:10 pm

May 6th, 2008 at 6:21 pm

May 6th, 2008 at 6:30 pm

Brian, W.T.F.?!!! Just do it. Don’t you drive? Don’t you have a truck?
May 6th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
yeah I have a truck and yeah I do drive Lou but I have never been on TV and we really need to watch our language Lou I know you did not say the actual word but even though we know what the ebreviation means its just not nice
May 7th, 2008 at 8:50 am
Good morning to all. My coffee haven’t kicked in yet, but It should soon. Ok Brian, it should be said you haven’t been on TV Yet,but it doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen. Stay here and expect the unexpected.
May 7th, 2008 at 9:54 am
I will always be here Reggie
May 7th, 2008 at 9:56 am
Hey Brian I have to run to the post office and I will be back. Have you had your started today? Coffee.
May 7th, 2008 at 10:19 am
LOL no Reggie I have no had coffee this morning I am drinking a Route 44 coke from Sonic this morning its cheaper than coffee so NO coffee this morning for me
May 7th, 2008 at 10:24 am
I couldn’t survive waking up without coffee. That’s why I brew my own coffee at home – that way I can drink gallons of the stuff. Even bathe in it if I wanted to… not that I ever have or anything. But one tip if you ever try it, let the coffee cool down before getting into a bathtub full of it.
May 7th, 2008 at 10:26 am
Good morning all. Steak Night is all set up. We went in to PJs last night, strictly for business/medicinal purposes, and told him we may have a decent sized group coming tomorrow.
If we get too many people, he said we can have the upstairs as our own if need be. I know we’ll have at least 10 people, but that’s not even counting anyone on this blog that may come… or the Rollergirls. Anyone heard if any of them can make it?
Also, who from the blog is coming? Let me or William know today so we can make sure PJ (owner of PJs, obviously)gets enough steaks.
We also told him about the Just Ask campaign, the new ad hitting publications and sent him to the website. He thought it was an incredible story and is excited to meet Reggie and the gang!
May 7th, 2008 at 10:45 am
Ok this is never going to work. I just can’t pull myself away from this computer to get to the post office. I just need to say good job Matt. Where is William? Maybe transporting his hogs. A little inside joke for William.
May 7th, 2008 at 10:51 am
Reggie just stop and go to the post office the sooner you go the sooner you can get back and get back on the blog buddy
May 7th, 2008 at 11:17 am
I just sent an email to our favorite roller derby girls inviting them. Hopefully, some will be able to attend. It’s a perty wherever they are.
May 7th, 2008 at 11:18 am
No, Reggie, you and I both know why I can’t move my hogs. I was trying to get me a meeting with the President of Houston.
May 7th, 2008 at 11:27 am
hey Lou how are you today
May 7th, 2008 at 11:37 am
#102: Cool Lou. Let either William or me know today and we’ll let PJ know how many to expect. That way we don’t catch PJ with his pants down… and trust, that’s the last thing you want to see.
May 7th, 2008 at 11:49 am
comment 103 The President of y’all town? Oh and I need a room.
May 7th, 2008 at 12:01 pm
Hi Reggie!
Just saw your answer back! thank you. I’m sorry I’ve been so long in writting. I was having computer issues with the blog page but now I’ve seemed to resolve it.
How are you today? Feeling good about the interview? haveing tons of coffee?
May 7th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
Meredyth, Good that you are here. Brian and the others will be happy to see you as well. Yes I’m having my share of coffee. As for me. Multitasking, Things would work better if I had two more arms attached.
May 7th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
Hey William I see everyone with a picture has what I call a snowflake. Not like before. Pretty cool.
May 7th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
Nice touch to the blog Lou. Like the video. Will you check to see if there are a few XLARGE. T-shirts in the office? I have more orders to fill.
May 7th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
None. I guess I’ll just have to knit a few more.
May 7th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
I have seen your work. That will be great. When will you start? Your rocking chair is working isn’t it?
May 7th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
hey Lou how are you today I hope everybody is having a good day
May 7th, 2008 at 12:52 pm
I was going to say, Reggie, that the snowflakes seem like a nice little touch from the Rumsfield of the blog, Lou. By the way, Lou, we got the restraining order lifted so you can come to steak night sans muzzle. Happy knitting.
May 7th, 2008 at 12:58 pm
Thanks, William, I’ll try not to chew on your foot this time.
May 7th, 2008 at 12:59 pm

Hello Darlene,
Thank you for your wonderful email.I feel great and I know this was
meant to be. I would not want to anything else but what I do with my
website and interviews. I could never give back what I’m receiving by
the kind comments from those that area affected with NF,As well as those
that are not affected by the disorder. Things will only continue to

visit my blog and website. You can see in the photos things are
different from last year. The smile tells it all.
Make it a tremendous day,

Look, everybody! Lou is capable of more than just grousing and t-shirt knitting! There is a great service called igive.com which allows you to choose a cause to receive donations from your online purchases. Lou setup an account for Just Ask!, so now you can help support NF awareness and research by doing something that we do anyway: shop. The website has more info and details, including a list of the 680+ stores that donate. Follow this link to sign up or learn more:

HI EVERYBODY
May 7th, 2008 at 2:35 pm
Our roller derby girls leave Friday for a match in LA on Saturday and Sunday and won’t be able to attend our little soiree. However, they have promised to join us once they return victorious from participating in Roll for the Cure. http://ocrollergirls.com/
Good luck, Houston Roller Derby!
May 7th, 2008 at 2:52 pm
whats up Shelley
May 7th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
Hey all. Somebody may want to change the heading at the top of the page on this topic. It still reads “tonight” for the interview.
I’d hate for any of the new friends logging in to think they can still watch Reggie work his magic on Network TV!!
And Lou, what did you say to scare off the Rollergirls?!? You invited them to steak night with Reggie , right? Not back to your place to look at your “etchings” I hope?
May 7th, 2008 at 3:15 pm
All I said was, “William’s gonna be there!” Then they all started coughing like they were coming down with the flu or something. One threw up though I didn’t think she was sick. Those roller derby girls are pretty tough so something had to be really bad to nauseate them so thoroughly. I hope it wasn’t something I said!
May 7th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
Actually, that worked out ok because William is required, by law, to stay at least 150 yards away from any woman in skates.
It was the only fetish-based restraining order in Texas legal history.
May 7th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
hey guys, Lou said back to his place. And he was offering all the wine they ladies can drink.
May 7th, 2008 at 3:36 pm
Aah, you’re forgetting the loophole: skates AND fishnet hose. Just one or the other and I’m golden.
The coughing and vomiting are actually manifestations of jealousy and desire, Lou. Ask your shrink. That is why I am duty bound to create more of me to effectively spread the love. Or disease, depending upon your perspective.
Remember: don’t forget your safe word!

May 7th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
Well, Lou, that explains a lot. I was wondering Saturday why you kept yelling about cold fish soup as the midget dominatrix poured hot wax on your clamped bits. I got the pictures developed, by the way. Oh, the horror…
May 7th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
Brian you there?
May 7th, 2008 at 5:32 pm

May 7th, 2008 at 6:22 pm

May 7th, 2008 at 6:51 pm

Brian how do you have to dress? Suite or western?
May 7th, 2008 at 9:16 pm
I have known Reggie for as long as I can remember. Reggie is the most positive person I know. Yes, he may look different but who gives a flying care about looks. All I see is a man with a BIG LOVING HEART, not only that, he helps you when you need help.
Elena Congelio (12 years old, Lou’s daughter)
PS – HELP!!! MY DAD LOCKS ME IN A CLOSET AT NIGHT AND DOESN’T FEED ME!!!
May 7th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
Brian and Shelley,
How are you guys doing? I just realized that Matt, William and I have been hogging the blog. I think we were hoping you would join in our conversation but I guess you’re a little shy. So, instead, how about if I join yours? Ok, here goes…do you know what kind of coddee I drink at home? No, it isn’t Starbucks, it’s Community Club New Orleans Blend with Chicory. It is so strong that you have to put in twice the amount of creamer to make it come out normal looking. After you’ve had a cup of that, you’re ready for the day! And, if you had any keft, you could use it as a furniture stripper! I like to have Starbucks at home too but I like my New Oeleans blend. Reminds me of, well, New Orleans.
May 7th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
Thank you Elena, How nice. If cool how you look out for me when we are out.
May 7th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
Lou you are right. and I don’t always agree with you. Only this one time. That coffee is very strong and I didn’t want to use all the sugar and cream. It is good coffee. I think you may just have to use less coffee.
May 7th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
hey Lou I am good here I thought you might be mad at me I asked twice how you were doing and never got a answer but sorry I did not join you and Matts conversation but I like you and Matt as well I will join in next time also I would like to try your New Orleans blen coffee although I have never had anything that strong before and if you can use it for furniture stripper I may not have a stomach left afterwords and its nice to hear from you Lou
May 7th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
Yea it’s real strong. Even with a lot of milk. When I make coffee at home it use the powdered creamer the good stuff and that works good. But when you have strong coffee milk works best.
May 7th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
William look for an email. I have to send you one. you may have heard it. Ricky Smiley. Who y’all got down there today? Heard it?
May 7th, 2008 at 10:23 pm
Don’t forget, tomorrow is Steak Night at PJ’s!
May 7th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
LOu , Reggie and I say Keep you knitting needles at home.
May 7th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
Yea Brian, that Chicory can really make a nice cup of coffee but it will be strong and bitter. Chicory is a root they used to “extend” coffee when it was in short supply and gives the coffee a nutty, bitter taste.
The next big get together, I promise to make everyone on the blog that shows up a Cuban espresso. Provided we get together at someone’s house that has an espresso machine. A Cuban espresso is strong, sweet and will keep you up for DAYS!
Got the secret recipe from a friend of mine.
Not many places in town you can get coffee made that way, except a few Cuban restaurants. I can also show you guys how make a mean Turkish coffee and a fine Vietnamese iced coffee.
Ok, I have to go to bed now and all of this talk about coffee is making me want an espresso. Maybe a shot of whiskey is what I need instead.
May 7th, 2008 at 11:21 pm
Matt the Cuban coffee sounds pretty good but I really don’t know about trying it as you say it will keep you up for days heck I sleep now but not that well thats the last thing I need is to stay up for days LOL but it does sound pretty good
May 8th, 2008 at 12:23 am
If you like your coffee sweet and strong, it’s the coffee for you.
Speaking of sleep, I’m heading off to bed now. Too bad you can’t make steak night tomorrow Brian, maybe next time.
Anyone else out there on the blog coming?
Good night everyone. Sleep well.
May 8th, 2008 at 7:15 am
I love Vietnamese coffee which is made with thick sweetened condensed milk and the coffee is slowly steeped and filtered through a cool-looking glass thingy. Sorry, didn’t mean to get technical on ya!
May 8th, 2008 at 7:58 am
Good morning. Lou that sounds good I would love to try that.
May 8th, 2008 at 8:52 am
Good, when you get one, you can buy one for me, too!
May 8th, 2008 at 8:59 am
Good morning all. You know what goes great with coffee… German Chocolate Cake. Hint-hint, Reggie.
May 8th, 2008 at 9:00 am
Sure will. And if you believe that I have some stocks to sale you.
May 8th, 2008 at 9:06 am
Lol! Leave the stocks, just bring the cake!
May 8th, 2008 at 9:13 am
Really Matt? I wonder where can we find someone who can make a mean German Chocolate Cake? LOL I bet we can find someone to do that. That person may need want something in return. Like lessons in playing musical interments. Banjo perhaps or acoustic guitar, mandolin, and a little voice lessons. Something easy. You know what I mean. Not a lot.
May 8th, 2008 at 9:16 am
We need to get William to bring his autoharp for you to play. That’s one almost anyone can jump right in with. For a good cake, I’ll even throw in lessons on how to make Cuban coffee!
May 8th, 2008 at 9:21 am
Can you teach us to sing like Ricky Ricardo, too?
May 8th, 2008 at 9:21 am
Should I go to Kroger and pick one up? Or did you have something in mind?
May 8th, 2008 at 9:25 am
For you Lou, You sign like Lucy, only worst.
May 8th, 2008 at 10:11 am
If we can teach Lou to sing like Ricky Ricardo, maybe he can go on-the-road as a Ricky Ricardo impersonator. He could call the act “Babba-Lou!”
And Reggie, not that you need to bring cake or anything tonight. But sometime in the future, you’ll have to make one of those famous German Chocolate cakes I keep hearing so much about.
Anyone else tuning in this morning? Brian? Shelley? Patricia? Tim? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?
May 8th, 2008 at 10:23 am
Anyone? Anyone?
May 8th, 2008 at 10:23 am
Hey Reggie, are you coming over today to pick up the tshirts and sign the photos?
May 8th, 2008 at 10:40 am
Lou I’m on the phone with Dr. Burzynski. He saw me on the news. I will tell you all about when I get to your office.
May 8th, 2008 at 11:05 am
hey I am here Matt and Lou whats going on today
May 8th, 2008 at 11:10 am
Hey Brian. You’re on a little late today. What happened? Did Starbuck’s run outta coffee.
May 8th, 2008 at 11:18 am
hey all this talk of coffee is really making me want one!
Vietnamese coffee which is made with thick sweetened condensed milk and the coffee is slowly steeped and filtered through a cool-looking glass thingy
Really! How rude Lou! make us all want fancy coffe and leave us here.
Anyway good morning all! I’ve been out all morning and just got back. I haven’t even had one cup yet but I’m gonna fix that!
May 8th, 2008 at 11:21 am
Hey Meredyth. Find any Vietnamese restaurant, they’ll have it on the menu. Served over ice, so it’s great for the upcoming summer months!
May 8th, 2008 at 11:52 am
yeah I am a little late today Matt I just don’t feel very good today I am fixing to lay down for a little while but may be back later on
May 8th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
Brian, a good nap always helps. Take care of yourself and we’ll see you soon.
May 8th, 2008 at 12:19 pm
I will try thanks Matt
May 8th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
Brian, Reggie called to tell me that he’s at the Post Office and he’ll be on the blog when he gets home.
Lou
May 8th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
On May 8, 1978, I started working for Preston State Bank in Dallas. Several years later, it was taken over by the Bank of the Southwest, the couple years later taken over or merge with MBANK, then my department became part of MTECH (computers) then was brought by EDS..this was in 1988. Today, I hit 30 years. Made it through countless lay offs (one two weeks ago). People I started out with, are no longer around, either they had quick or been laid off. In May 1987, I started my association with the Texas NF Foundation.
May 8th, 2008 at 2:00 pm
John, You have done a lot. And I sure every job you had was happy to have you. The good thing about that is, The jobs didn’t work and you became involved with the Texas NF Foundation. You are a very big part of the Foundation’s growth. They are happy to have you and I happy to have meet you through the Foundation. So everything worked out very well.
May 8th, 2008 at 2:02 pm

May 8th, 2008 at 5:41 pm

May 8th, 2008 at 5:49 pm
Reggie you and Lou would love Seaport coffee
May 8th, 2008 at 5:50 pm
My Dad loves that brand dark roast
May 8th, 2008 at 5:54 pm
We used to be their advertising agency for awhile. Had Ezra Charles record a jingle. It was kind of cute! Delta blues kind of feel.
May 8th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
Where can you find it?
May 8th, 2008 at 7:10 pm
I have never heard of Seaport coffee. What is that? A brand found in the south only? But dark roast is the only way to go! That’s why I can’t have it at night anymore. I’d be typing at 2am!

May 9th, 2008 at 8:18 am
Good Morning to all,
Last night was really fun. I wish everyone could have been there. Matt William and John. MAN! Thank you so much for helping me with playing the harp. That was cool. I watched the video and I have to say, it was pretty good. I think with a little more practice I will have learn something new. That was cool. You never know what you can do it you don’t try.
May 9th, 2008 at 8:36 am
hey Reggie I am glad you had fun sounds like it was a blast I sure wish I could have been there
May 9th, 2008 at 9:08 am
Brian you could have watch me play the harp. It was fun . I didn’t know I didn’t know I that was in the planes. It was fun learning.
May 9th, 2008 at 9:46 am
William Matt. I need the music to the song from last night. Is there a video on youtube That I can play alone with?
May 9th, 2008 at 10:16 am
Anytime Reggie. You rocked the harp like a madman! The song we were working on last night was G,C and D7. I’ll look around on You Tube and see if I can find anyone doing the song so that you can play along.
Glad you had a good time!!
May 9th, 2008 at 11:04 am
That was a lot of fun and all I did was take photos! I’muploading the video of your song right now and it should be live within a few minutes.
May 9th, 2008 at 11:17 am
Yes, but the question is: Is the world ready for the unique musical stylings of Mr. Bibbs and His Hillbilly Band? Too bad MTV and VH1 don’t play music videos anymore!
May 9th, 2008 at 11:43 am
Waiting for vimeo to send url of processed video.
May 9th, 2008 at 11:43 am
Perfect name for the band. Mr. Bibbs and His Hillbilly Band. I think we are on our way to Nashville. Lou can drive the van.
May 9th, 2008 at 11:47 am
Me too. still waiting Lou. Oh, Matt you forget Lou is uploading. So don’t hold your breath. William, I bet you will know the answer to this. Wasn’t there a song Still Waiting? Prince I think.
May 9th, 2008 at 12:19 pm
Done.
http://www.vimeo.com/993921
May 9th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
OMG! If anyone is looking for me, I’m going in hiding. I will not be going to Hollywood.O well I have a lot of excesses I can blame that performances on.
May 9th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
Don’t be so hard on yourself Reggie, you were the one holding the band together. Without The Fabulous Mr. Bibbs and His Magic Flying Fingers pounding out the rhythm on the autoharp, we’d have been lost!
Someday we’ll get all of the instruments in tune and REALLY bring the house down!
May 9th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
Well you know your right.
May 9th, 2008 at 1:55 pm
Brian you are better today I hope?
May 9th, 2008 at 1:55 pm
Lou and Reggie VH1 and MTV don’t play music anymore because you can see it online! Come on Lou get with it!
Post the video online of Hillbilly Band. I’m ready!
Happy Friday everyone!
May 9th, 2008 at 1:58 pm
Happy Friday Meredyth, Here is the link. Remember you ask for it. http://www.vimeo.com/993921
May 9th, 2008 at 2:04 pm
Of course I did!! LOVE IT! That looks like so much fun. I love sitting around hearing music played and singing too. It’s great fun. Life is good!
Thanks Reggie
May 9th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
hey Reggie I saw the video but I think something is wrong with my computer it plays the video for a few seconds then stops and I cant see and watch the whole video and sad to say no Reggie I aint feeling no better actually I think I feel a little worse today
May 9th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
Hey Brian,
Maybe you have more then one window open. It may just take time for it to load. I hope you feel better so you can enjoy the weekend
May 9th, 2008 at 3:04 pm
#219: The only Prince song I can seem to think of right now is ‘Darling Nikki’, Reggie, and I am pretty sure that’s not it. There is the Bob Marley tune “I Don’t Want To Wait in Vain”, of which Ms Annie Lennox did an amazing cover, and I seem to recall a jam by Fishbone entitled “Waiting For The One Day”.
I just watched the video and I must say I am quite impressed, Reggie, but I really think those three white guys in the band are holding you back. I really think we need a washtub bass player. Anybody on the blog play washtub bass, or at least open to learn?
May 9th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
If your computer won’t stream it try right clicking it and saving it to your desktop? Maybe that would work to view it.
May 9th, 2008 at 3:42 pm
William you are going to have to show me how I should move my hands when I play the harp. Do I need to go forward and back or just forward. Should it be fast? Should I use all strings?
May 9th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Washtub bass?!! Did someone just mention my old junior high marching band instrument?!!!
May 9th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
YO EVERYBODY
May 9th, 2008 at 4:25 pm
Reggie: When you strum, you can go both forward and back. It all depends on how fast you want to play. I’d say practice both fast and slow, using all strings most of the time. Right now the higher ones are more in tune than the rest, but I say do what makes the most noise!
And thanks to Lou, I can’t shake the image of a 13-year old Lou (complete with full beard, even then I imagine) trying to march and play a washtub bass.
May 9th, 2008 at 4:27 pm
Hey Shelley! You missed a great time last night. You’ll have to join us sometime.
Do you play any instruments? A washtub bass perhaps?
Actually, to play with us, all you have to do is have a love of making noise!!!
May 9th, 2008 at 5:14 pm
That was fun and the next time I will have gotten better. When I get that down I will work on other instruments.
May 9th, 2008 at 5:40 pm
Reggie:
The easiest way to figure out when to strum is to just clap along with the song, and then just strum where you clapped. In a perfect world, you would use all the strings. But with the tuning of the beast right now, you would probably risk auditory damage if you used all of the strings every time. As far as which way to go, the answer is which ever way the spirit moves you. As long as it is in rhythm.
And Shelley, Brian, Meredyth, and any other interested party, I have more noisemakers (what the sophisticates call instruments), so all you gotta do is show up and you’re in the band.
And Lou, I’m talking about a ‘bass’ the instrument, not the fish.
May 9th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
what all do you have William I used to have a Fender stratacaster but I lost interest and never played it but I think it would be cool to play with all of yall and would be a lot of fun
May 9th, 2008 at 6:49 pm
I’ve got a Squier Strat, an old Korean strat knockoff, a 5 string bass, a 6 string acoustic with nylon strings, a mandolin, a trumpet, a flute, various kazoos, snare drum, xylophone, various rattles, kalingas, an accordion, various recorders and whistles, a tambourine, a rainstick, a didgeridoo, maracas, castanets, a mini steel drum. Basically a lot of different ways to make a lot of different noise. It would be very cool if you played with us!. You’ve seen the video; we need all the help we can get!
May 9th, 2008 at 6:53 pm
Brian that would be a good thing. You will like it. I need to work on what William said. It is going to take a lot of work.
May 9th, 2008 at 7:45 pm
I would not mind learning how to play the mandolin
May 9th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
Brian you would have fun. We did sound pretty good.
May 9th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
I think it wold be a blast Reggie
May 9th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
Matt what cards would I use to play the music to that movie Bert Reynaldo’s was in. I know they kill one of the guy’s near the river. Bert took one guy out with one shot.
May 9th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
sorry I spelt that word wrong I meant would
May 9th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
Let Matt and William know what you want to play. How cool that would be if we get a large group together and play at camp.
May 9th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Yes! When is camp? We should get together a Just Adk orchestra and teach you all a tune before then. How cool would that be?!?
And you mean the theme from Delivere3ance? Dueling Banjos? I’m not really sure, but I think it’s mostly C and G.
May 9th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
Hey that’s it’s. Camp is this September. It would be perfect. do you know we can do a lot with this. Someone will learn that
hey I never knew I could do this. I think it could help make a lot of people believe in them self.
May 9th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
I would really like to learn how to play the mandolin I think they are pretty cool but I will tell you the truth honestly I have truely always wanted to learn how to play a steel guitar I think they sound beautiful I have always loved a steel guitar and always loved the way they sound
May 9th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Brian: I’ve always loved steel guitar too, but have never played one.
Maybe we can learn at the same time?
I am so glad to see you all expressing interest in making music, it’s a great way to unwind and have a little fun.
May 9th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
Matt the only down fall for me though is I am completely deaf so I cant hear anything but that would be cool if we could learn together I have always loved the steel guitar they just sound awesome I want one so bad its not funny I just think they are the neatest thing but I also really would not mind learning how to play the mandolin I like those to they are really neat as well
May 9th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
Brian that is something you want to do, and I bet you will be very good at it. Oh and Brian if you make it to camp we are going to try to get as many as we can to play something. The only thing is Matt is always trying to make people write. I have to write all this stuff down.
May 9th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
Matt I don’t have the pick. Didn’t see it a Lou’s. I can get one to use at home.
May 9th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
{{{{{{{{{{{{EVERYBODY}}}}}}}}}}}}
May 9th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
Beethoven was completely deaf too. If you can feel the vibrations of the music, you can learn to keep a beat.
I know we can find something that will work for you. But when we figure it out, don’t ask Reggie to write it down! ; )
May 9th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
Oh that’s good Matt. LOL. Now that I will write and will never say.
May 9th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
LOL thats funny Matt but why NOT ask Reggie to write it down
May 9th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Reggie Don’t you remember the GOODWILL Trainee Talent Shows!
May 9th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
Yea, I remember. One that i watched only.
May 9th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
I would never want to try to preform and be voted on. I don’t do well with rejection. LOL
May 9th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
yea I only remember the one I was in never again.
May 9th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
I know what you mean.
May 9th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
hey Reggie I am seriously thinking about going to camp but the only thing I am really worried about is eating I am real picky since I cant have wheat
May 9th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
If you are serious all you have to do is have your mom talk to Cindy at the Foundation. Let them know about your diet and I know they can work something out. You can do that a head of time.
May 9th, 2008 at 11:44 pm
cool Reggie I will keep that in mind I still have not decided yet
May 10th, 2008 at 2:58 am
Ok, late night for me and I’m on my way to bed. BUT, just wanted to let Reggie know we at PJs (where we had steak night) and that PJ was so happy to meet you. We had told him about the Just Ask thing and what you do and he was very moved by it. He even mentioned that when we were at Steak Night that there was a lady there that saw you on Fox 26 and wanted to say hello.
Problem was, you were already mobbed by “adoring fans” so she didn’t get the chance to say hello!
Don’t let it go to your head Reggie!!
Good night everyone.

Reggie;
I realized after we split Thursday that I took all the picks. That’s ok: a good chance to rip some skin off your fingers while you learn the music.
Brian: if you want to learn the mandolin, show up at the next jam of Mr Bibbs and His Hootenanny (or whatever the band is called) and you will. And, once again, we are still in search of a washtub bass player, particularly since I disabused Lou of the notion that it was a fish or beer.
Shelley, you strike me as a kazoo player. Show up for the hootenanny and work your magic.
Reggie, I will see you tomorrow ( or today. damn bars) for the Parade. I understand if you have to bring Lou with you. The Deliverance chords are as follows:

Matt, I remember someone wanted to meet me. I would love to have met her. Just her her to push her way through all the other fans. Say hello to her for me if you see her before I do. And too late it already went to me head.

Hey Reggie, sorry we missed you at Lou’s after the parade. I hear you had your autoharp and were ready to jam! I didn’t stay long anyway. I ended up leaving William and Lou alone together at about 9:00 – so Lou’s house is probably nothing but a pile of rubble by now.
Also wanted to say my girlfriend Kimka really enjoyed meeting you. She said you were a really great guy… but then again she didn’t get to talk to you THAT much! ; )
And Happy Mother’s Day to everyone on the blog it applies to!!

Thank you Reggie! And Matt!
I am blessed with great kids. Mostly it’s just them. They are good in heart and soul. I just let them be as great as they are ………………and of course beat them about the head if they aren’t good. NO just kidding.
They LOVED meeting you. You are so easy to be with. THANK YOU

my borother reggie has a powerful impact on everybody becuase everybody comes to him when something bad happens to them or if they are going through something they come to talk to him for comfort and he has a positive refelction on our family and he inspires people that no matter how you look you can still be normal from your sister and your nephew(Jordan Walker)
